Overview

By design, Simplifi is meant to do most of the work for you, but there may be a time where you need to create or edit a transaction manually. Like many other things, Simplifi makes managing your transactions simple.

Managing Transactions

You can see your Transaction Activity by selecting Transactions from the menu on the left-hand side. By default, Simplifi will show a combined view of all your Transaction Activity. If you only want to see transactions associated with a specific account, you'll need to select that account from the Account List.

Add a Transaction

  1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Transactions.
  2. Select your desired account.
  3. Click the blue +Add button at the top right corner. A new, blank transaction will appear at the top of your Transaction Activity with today's date.
  4. If the transaction is not from today, click into the Date field and select the appropriate date.
  5. Set the transaction status as either Pending or Cleared. Note: Transactions should be set to pending until they have actually cleared your bank.
  6. Enter the Payee, Category, and Amount. For more options, select the drop-down arrow to the right of the amount.
  7. Click Save when done.

Edit a Transaction

There are a couple of different ways to edit existing transactions in Simplifi. You can edit one transaction at a time:

  1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Transactions.
  2. Select your desired account.
  3. Locate the transaction and click the field you wish to edit. To edit multiple fields, use your mouse or tab from field to field.
  4. Make any necessary changes and press Enter to save.

Or, you can edit multiple transactions at a time:

  1. Place a checkmark in the box to the left of each of the transactions you'd like to update.
  2. Click the pencil icon at the top left of the Transaction Activity.
  3. Edit the desired field(s).
  4. Click Update to save changes.

Delete a Transaction

  1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Transactions.
  2. Select your desired account.
  3. Locate the transaction(s) you'd like to delete, place a checkmark in the box to the left of the transaction date, then click the trash icon.
  4. Click Delete to confirm.

Alternatively, you can delete multiple transactions at a time by placing a checkmark in the box to the left of each of the transactions you'd like to delete and clicking the trash can icon at the top left of the Transaction Activity. You must click Delete again to confirm the deletion.

Split a Transaction

  1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Transactions.
  2. Select your desired account.
  3. Locate the transaction you'd like to split, click onto any field and then click the Split icon just to the right of the Category field.
  4. The transaction will expand with a default of two split-lines; click the blue (+) button at the end of the second line to add as many lines as needed.
  5. Enter the Category you'd like to use for the first portion of the split and then input the dollar amount for this same portion.
  6. Repeat this step for every split-line you'd like to create for the transaction; Simplifi should automatically adjust the amount of the next line-item to stay in sync with the total amount of the transaction.
  7. Click Close when done.
