Overview

With Investment Transactions, you can now manage the individual transactions for your investments, including the ability to perform Transfers to and from your Investment Accounts, as well as the ability to track commissions on buys and sells.

Things to Note:

  • Investment Transactions do not interact with your Investments Portfolio or Account Balances. These are designed to be a behind-the-scenes type of scenario that allows you to manage and track your individual investment transactions without impacting your actual Portfolio Value. Your Portfolio Value is determined by the holdings displayed in the Investments section; more details on using the Investments section can be found here.

  • Investment Transaction Categories are limited to investing actions only. If you'd like to add a cash Investment Transaction, you may do so by using the 'Payment/Deposit' Type.

  • Investment Transactions will impact the Balance Over Time feature, as well as the Performance Over Time feature. For more details on using Balance Over Time, please see our Support Article here; for more details on using Performance Over Time, please see our Support Article here.

  • At this time, there are only certain Investment Transactions that can be included in Reports, the Spending Plan, and Watchlists, such as 'Payment/Deposit'. You'll be able to determine this ability at the transaction level by viewing the 'Exclusions' settings. These Investment Transaction Types, as well as the Investment Account itself, will be excluded by default. However, you can change the visibility settings for both the Investment Account and the Investment Transactions. All other Investment Transaction Types, such as 'Buys' and 'Sells', will always be excluded. Click here for more details!

Performing Transfers To and From Investment Accounts

With Investment Transactions, you can now perform Transfers to and from your Investment Accounts! To do so, you'd select the sending/receiving account for the Category of the transactions, just as with any regular Linked Transfer.

To do so from the Investment Transaction directly, you'll want to select Payment/Deposit for the Type, and then select the other account for the Category. Please see our Support Article here for more details on using Transfers in Quicken Simplifi.
