Overview

Simplifi's Recurring Transactions feature makes organizing all of your bills and subscriptions a piece of cake! Recurring Transactions are your expected Bills and Income; when you connect your banks for the first time, Simplifi quickly analyzes your transactions and compiles a list of your Bills and Income, along with the frequency of each one.

Recurring Transactions give Simplifi the ability to predict your future balance and can take place weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, every 2 weeks, quarterly, every 6 months, or yearly, so you can stay on top of your bills and have enough left over for the things that you enjoy!

How Does it Work?

As you download transactions, Simplifi searches for matches to your Recurring items and is designed to match transactions within a certain variance. You can see any Recurring Reminder that has yet to be matched in the Upcoming view at the top of your account registers, or in the Upcoming section.

While we've worked hard to ensure that Simplifi's matching capabilities are top-notch, there may be times that Simplifi doesn't match correctly. If you find a transaction downloaded, but the matching Recurring Reminder still shows "Past," you'll need to manually match your transaction:

  1. Click the three dots to the upper right of the "Past" Reminder.

  2. Select Link to transaction.

  3. Locate the matching transaction and click on it.

  4. Click Link.

Simplifi will remove the Recurring Reminder from the Upcoming view and match it to the downloaded transaction. Linking transactions also increases the odds that it will match correctly next time.

Managing Your Recurring Transactions

To access all of your Recurring Transactions, rather than just one Reminder, hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Settings, and then select Recurring. If you only want to see the next 30 days of Recurring Transactions, you can do so through the Upcoming page.

Create a Recurring Transaction

Do you have a Recurring Transaction that Simplifi didn’t find? No problem! You can create one directly from the Recurring section:

  1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Settings.

  2. Select Recurring.

  3. Click the + Add button.

  4. Select the Transaction that you wish to make Recurring.

  5. Click Create.

If you're unable to locate the Transaction that you'd like to make Recurring, you can select Add Manually. Be sure to complete all required fields and click Create to save the Recurring Transaction.

You can also create a Recurring Transaction through the Transaction View:

  1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Transactions.

  2. Locate the Transaction that you'd like to make Recurring and click the drop-down arrow at the end of the transaction to expand the details.

  3. Toggle the Is a bill switch to on.

  4. Select New recurring bill.

  5. Ensure that the pre-filled data is correct and make any changes that are needed.

  6. Click Create when done.

When going through the Transaction View to create a Recurring Transaction, you'll be given several different options:

  • One Time Bill – Marking a transaction as One Time doesn’t create a Recurring Transaction, but it does ensure that this transaction is included in the Bills total in the Spending Plan.

  • New Recurring Bill – Simplifi will create a monthly Recurring Transaction for the same Payee, Date, and Amount of the transaction; you'll be given the opportunity to make adjustments before saving.

  • Assign to Existing Bill –This option is useful when a downloaded transaction didn’t properly match to a Recurring Transaction. Selecting this option will allow you to link the transaction to a Recurring Reminder, and will also increase the odds that it will match correctly next time.

Edit a Recurring Transaction

You can edit a specific instance of a Recurring Transaction (Reminder) through the Upcoming view at the top of your register:

  1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Transactions.

  2. Locate the Reminder that you'd like to edit and click the three dots to the upper right of it.

  3. Select Edit reminder.

  4. Make the necessary changes and click Update when done.

If you need to make edits to an entire Recurring Series, you can do so through the Recurring section:

  1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Settings.

  2. Select Recurring.

  3. Locate the Recurring Transaction that you'd like to edit and click the three dots at the end of it.

  4. Select Edit series.

  5. Make the necessary changes and click Update when done.

Delete a Recurring Transaction

You can delete a specific instance of a Recurring Transaction (Reminder) through the Upcoming view at the top of your register:

  1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Transactions.

  2. Locate the Reminder that you'd like to delete and click the three dots to the upper right of it.

  3. Select Delete reminder.

  4. Click Delete to confirm.

If you need to delete an entire Recurring Series, you can do so through the Recurring section:

  1. Hover over the panel on the left-hand side and select Settings.

  2. Select Recurring.

  3. Locate the Recurring Transaction that you'd like to delete and click the three dots at the end of it.

  4. Select Delete series.

  5. Click Delete Series to confirm.

Note: Over time, Simplifi will learn more and more about your Recurring Transactions, meaning less work for you in the future!
